How to Draw a Skeleton

The Skeleton of Man (Das Skelett des Menschen) German engraving, Andreas Vesalius, author of an early influential book on anatomy, you can see his influence in even these later skeletons on this page - Skeletons.

Skeletons for the Bibliographisches Institute, Leipzig - founded 1826 in Gotha by Joseph Meyer. It moved in 1874 to Leipzig. This is probably form "Meyers Lexikon", Skeletons engraved for Richard Phillips, printmaker.

From The National Encyclopedia published by William MacKenzie in London around 1885.
The National Encyclopedia. A Dictionary of Universal Knowledge. By Writers of Eminence in Literature, Science, and Art. Vols. X. and XI. London: William Mackenzie, 22, Paternoster Row.
We have frequently called the attention of our readers, in articles -somewhat lengthy for us, to this noble work. The two volumes now 'before us are marked by all the characteristic excellences of previous volumes. On every subject, and it touches on almost every subject that comps within the range of thought, its articles, though brief, are clear, full, and in many cases exhaustive. The last volume that has appeared (Vol. XI.) brings us down to the word Specific. We suppose another volume, or two, will complete the undertaking; and, when completed, no work extant will be so accessible as to price, and so valuable as to usefulness to the reading men of England. It will bear comparison with the best encyclopsedias in our language. It is, indeed, a Dictionary of Universal Knowledge.

Oken was born Lorenz Okenfuss in Bohlsbach (now part of Offenburg) in Swabia and studied natural history and medicine at the universities of Freiburg and Würzburg. He went on to the University of Göttingen, where he became a Privatdozent (unsalaried lecturer), and shortened his name to Oken. As Lorenz Oken, he published a small work entitled Grundriss der Naturphilosophie, der Theorie der Sinne, mit der darauf gegründeten Classification der Thiere (1802). This was the first of a series of works which established him as the leader of the movement of "Naturphilosophie" in Germany.  -Wikipedia
